13 years before the events in Out of the Darkness normals are now in production, but the government owns a monopoly on their creation. In secret some private groups are beginning their own experiments trying to create the perfect assassins. Their first project Manok was believed to be a failure as apart from in appearance Manok didn't seem to have any special abilities to him/her. However tests didn't end there, and now more of these secret creatures are being made, however each experiment so far has some kind of flaw, in Manok's case it is that they are unstable and their molecules constantly rearrange between genders, but what other problems have the laboratory uncovered and how far are they from making their perfect project? The laboratory's name is Yunnel and that is the name they gave to their creations. (this is sort of a prequel side story to the other roleplay, so you can use characters from here in the other one)

(Are we just using the people the laboratory creates in this rp, or can we use some normals?)

ooc: the idea of this roleplay is partially a side-story of people who were made not in the main groups...anyone used here can be used in Out of the Darkness too...hence I'll be using Manok...it's just that Manok isn't a normal, and he isn't a creature of the darkness too...so I thought it might be interesting to play out where he came from, and it also creates another group for Out of the Darkness.

'Cold...so Cold...' Manok thought as she sat alone in the dark room. There was no light, not even a beam coming under the cell door, it was pitch black. She rocked back and forth in the cell shivering and staring into the dark room. In one corner there was a toilet, but other than that there was nothing. She had no bed, and was very rarely fed. Well, one couldn't expect much more for a failed experiment like herself. She sighed and pulled herself to her feet. It had only been a month since she had been created and already she had been determined a failure. Her bare feet shivered slightly as she moved them across the cold floor, she owned nothing, not even the simple clothe she had been given to wrap her body which was more like a ragged sleeveless dress than anything, it had been weeks since she had even had her hair brushed and it was now matting in the rooms dampness, her skin was covered in a layer of grime and her finger tips were black with soot. The only thing she had ever had any talent for, or so the scientists had told her, was her surprising ability to see things in the dark, maybe that was why the scientists had decided that it wasn't even worth wasting energy for lighting on her? She walked slowly over to the cell door and stared at the hatch which was used to bring her food every 4 days when the guards remembered. It should have been today that she was fed, well maybe she would have to wait until tomorrow?

Ralph wasn't generally old enough to figure out where he was. He only knew he didn't like it, even though he hadn't ever experienced anything else. He was a young boy; no older than five, no younger than four, but there was a sorrow in him older than he was. He was skin and bones, but he wasn't lonely. Ralph was so young, that he was able to have someone in the same dirty, disgusting place he was, someone who was worse off than Ralph himself. Despite how it wasn't true, he saw this person as his older brother - the only person that tried to watch out for him in a place like this. He was luckier than most, but there was also something about Ralph that was unlike the rest. He hated where he was, but he respected every human being there that hurt them. He respected the guards, the scientists, anyone around that smelled like a human.
His "older brother" was leagues different. He hated everything that moved, he kicked, screamed, bit anyone that tried to touch him or move him. He'd had many incidents where he had tried starving himself, preferring death over becoming a worker for anyone. He was dangerously rebellious, and he was willing to go great lengths to ruin who had done this to them.

In a cell across the hall from Manok's, two people sat across from each other. They were both chained by their wrists to the wall behind them for their and everyone else's safety. Their real names were Rebekah and Nicholas. They were supposed to stay Rebekah and Nicholas, and be good little assassin's in the war, however like all the other assassin's they were flawed. They had severe split personality syndrome, so most of the scientists on staff knew them as Wrath and Envy, in fact that's what was written on their cell door. They weren't as bad off as the other flawed creations so they were treated somewhat nicer, it made them easier to deal with, which helped too. They both wore grey cleanish clothing, and were fed twice a day. On a good day they only expected to be sedated once, but normally it was three times because the guards liked to watch them suffer so they would provoke them. Today though the two of them sat there in their pitch black cell, waiting for food. It'd been over an hour since their meal was due so of course they were getting annoyed. "I wish food would get here." Rebekah sighed, trying to keep calm as to not awaken the other personality inside her. "It'll get here when it gets here." Wrath hissed at her. "OI SHUT IT!" Envy shouted at him.

Manok scratched at the flap and sighed. "Oh poor little girl, locked in the darkness, how hungry thou must be." She sang to herself, it was a song that she had made up to a tune she didn't even know where it came from, but she had found that the sound of her voice wasn't unpleasant and it relieved her to sing out her emotions. "Oh where, oh where must those guards be? Will they feed the young girl this day? Or must she wait till another day?"
